Since we began to offer bed and breakfast we have met many lovely and interesting people. For those of you who have not yet stayed at Wilmar here are some of their comments:
As for the Wilmar, we have nothing but good things to say. Marcella was absolutely delightful as was the Wilmar. Very warm and welcoming. We had the Edinburgh room and it was excellent. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious. When we travel back to Skye (which we will) we will definitely stay there again! Thank you for a lovely time.
Our bedroom was spacious, with a sitting room down the hall where we were able to relax. Evening at the Olde Town Inn just down the street was a vibrant and fun time, with a music jam and friendly folk. Exploring their yard in the company of their chickens (m-m-m fresh eggs!), looking out over the loch, and then walking through the little town was great fun. Their delicious breakfasts by candlelight in the lovely dining room rounded out the wonder of their offering. This jewel of a spot is definitely worth the trip out to the Isle of Skye.
We felt very welcome here, and our double room facing the loch was so beautifully decorated, making it warm, cosy and spacious. There is a lounge for guests at the front of the house, so it was nice to spend time there with our in-laws who we were travelling with
Ian and Marcella are gracious hosts and have a lot to suggest should you ask them about their Isle of Skye. They have a reading/TV room with books about the history, birds, hikes, maps, you name it. They will help in whatever way they can. It felt like we were old friends staying here.
Inside, Marcella has decorated a beautiful home: guests can choose between the Glasgow and the Edinburgh room, the difference being in colour scheme and the fact that the Glasgow room has no en-suite bathroom. Which is no matter, because the bath is just down the corridor. We were staying in the Glasgow room (reds and greens, as opposed to Edinburgh’s blues). Every day, we found another nice surprise waiting for us, such as cake or cookies, and fresh flowers from the garden. It is Ian’s hens that provide for breakfast eggs. The breakfast menu offers a rich choice of fish, traditional breakfasts, and fruit. Marcella bakes her own bread! We loved everything.
This is the best B and B we have stayed at and we really couldn’t have hoped for any more! Ian and Marcella were wonderful hosts and were so accommodating to us and our little girl. We loved our room that overlooked the loch and the odd chicken passing by our window. The breakfasts were amazing – we stayed there for 4 nights and can say with confidence that everything on the menu is delicious! We were grateful for the use of a guest sitting room as well, which has loads of fascinating books on the Isle of Skye. Other nice touches were the fresh cut flowers in our bedroom and bathroom; biscuits laid out at tea time; Celtic folk music at breakfast; 2 minute walk from a pub; beautiful gardens…. We loved our stay, thank you Ian and Marcella if you are reading this!
“Nous avons dégusté “un petit je ‘sus en culotte de velours” sur une ile ou “il n’ya rien a jeter”….merci pour votre accueil chaleureux et ensoleille.”
“Our stay was wonderful and very peaceful. Marcella is very welcoming and made our stay relaxing. We loved the sourdough bread and the packed lunches were perfect for a mid-hike break.”
“We just felt like home. Thank you Marcella, and good luck with the baguettes”.
“We keep fond memories of you, your hospitality, house, garden, drying room and, not irrelevant in your case, breakfast. Thank you once again.
Two days later, chatting and walking along the coast line of Rubha Hunish, a seal must have overheard our conversation, since he (she?) successfully put a lot of effort in catching our attention., which was fun.
Anyway, we will disclose the charm of your accommodation to friends and will hopefully return ourselves one day (preferably around Christmas, Patricia keeps saying).”
“Thank you Ian & Marcella for a truly wonderful stay.Great suggestions for walks, generous hospitality, and the best breakfasts and porridge we’ve ever had. Many Thanks!”
“This is not home from home, this is actually better than home!”
“A truly delightful place to stay – comfy bed tempted me to stay put rather than climb the Cuillins!
“We really enjoyed our stay which was much too short in this beautiful house. Thanks for the Bread, the cake, and the strawberries.”
“Fantastic hospitality, and will recommend to everybody. Great base for exploring and hiking.”
“We were very fortunate to find this place after a long day cycling. Everything was fantastic—the garden, our room, the weather, the view, the shower!…”
